Reference projects in water treatment

Find below a selection of our recently installed Atec systems in the field of water treatment in different countries and industries.

Manufacturer of control panels – China – 2020

Task:

Treatment of a cleaning bath from parts cleaning / degreasing process. Removal of particles, oil and bacteria for the extension of the lifetime of the process bath.

Solution:

Innovative Atec Disc Filter based on the proven Atec Cartridge Filter system. Through the special cross flow filtration principle, with this kind of membrane filter, very high concentrations can be reached. For the customer this means that less liquid waste concentrate has to be disposed.

Brewery – Denmark – 2019

Task:

The customer want to test different membrane filtration processes for the reduction of water consumption (especially in the cleaning the systems). For this they need compact, fully automated and robust systems. They have to cover the whole spectrum of membrane filtration, from microfiltration for removal of particles down to reverse osmosis.

Solution:

  • One combined unit for testing of micro, ultra and nanofiltration membranes at adjustable operating pressures, based on the Atec Miditube cross flow filtration system. The system can be operated in the range of 1 to 25 bar
  • One compact high pressure reverse osmosis unit for operating pressure up to 120 bar

Surface technology – Austria  – 2019

Task:

The customer has 2 large, strongly alcaline immersion cleaning baths, each one with approx. 140 m³ volume, which form part of his hot-dip galvanization process. These baths are polluted with grease, oil and metal particles.

Solution:

An Atec Miditube filtration unit with a very compact footprint of < 1 m² and a membrane surface area of approx. 3 m² cleans automatically and alternatingly both baths. Through the continuous removal of dirt the pollution of the immersion cleaning baths could be decreased significantly. This eliminates the need for complete drainings and remplacement of the baths, which generates huge savings in the fields of manpower, water / wastewater and chemical consumption – and in addition to that protects the environment.

Food industry – Deutschland – 2019

Task:

High organic content and bacteria growth lead to odor problems in a rinsing bath. This makes frequent changes of the bath and cleaning of the equipment necessary.

Solution:

A very compact Atec Minitube filtration in the “Dead-End” filtration version cleans the bath and removes continuously (organic) turbidity as well as bacteria. This limits bacterial growth and odor generation. The filtration unit is equipped with a large membrane surface area of approx. 11 m².

Wood processing industry – Germany – 2018

Task:

Depending on the season, the customer 3-9 m³/h of wastewater from the dewatering of wood chips. This wastewater has a high content of suspended solids / turbidity as well as wood fibre and small wood chippings. This leads to a low efficiency of the evaporator that receives the wastewater and thus high operating and maintenance costs. Also, a large amount of liquid concentrate from the evaporator has to be incinerated in the wood biomass power plant, wasting a lot of energy.

Solution:

The wastewater passes through a chemical pretreatment in 3 steps, consisting of precipitation/flocculation, neutralization and coagulation. By that the fine suspended solids / particles are agglomerated to filterable flocs. A screw press with a 0,25 mm screen filters the pretreated wastewater and dewaters the removed sludge at the same time.

By that the customer achieves two benefits with one single machine: the high solids load is taken off the evaporator and the customer gets a dry sludge cake, which can be incinerated efficiently in th wood biomass power plant.

Manufacturer of carbide tools – Austria – 2015

Problem: Parts washing bath for cleaning of  molybdenum and tungsten alloy. The washing bath contains a cleaning agent and removes cooling lubricant and metal particles from the parts to be cleaned. Impurities and dirt particles accumulate in the wash water and lead to a short lifetime of the cleaning bath.

Solution: Atec Minitube filtration unit cleans constantly about 250 l/h of the wash water and removes cooling lubricant and metal particles. The cleaning agent passes through the membrane of the Minitube filtration unit and thereby remains in the washing bath. The lifetime of the bath increases and its quality remains contantly high. The Atec filtration unit saves the customer operating and waste water disposal costs.
