On 12 November 2017 a strong earthquake occured in the Iranian province of Kermanshah near the Iran-Irak border. The earthquake caused many casualties as well as severe damages to the infrastructure in the region. Among others drinking water pipes, treatment facilities and water sources were damaged by the earthquake. One of the most affected cities was Sarpol-e Zahab. Their formerly very good and clear drinking water source was contaminated by high turbidity as a result of the earthquake. The rapid sand filters of the local water treatment plant were not able to clean the water according to drinking water standards. Our local partner in Iran had a containerized drinkin water treatment plant by Atec available at that moment. This plant was shipped quickly to the Kermanshah region and Atec sent two employees to supervise the commissioning of the plant.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

From the commissioning the plant produces arround 30.000 liters per hour of drinking water which is free of germs and crystal clear. The plant uses submerged ceramic membranes with a pore size of 0.1 microns.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
